Tree work in Peregian Springs

Council bushland and the park to the south

The council's open space register lists several bushland reserves in Peregian Springs, among them the Peregian Springs Bushland Conservation Reserve and the Scribbly Gum Circuit Environment Reserve. Where a yard backs onto one, the trees over the fence are the council's to prune or remove, so the first thing to settle is which side of the boundary a tree stands on.

Directly south of Peregian Springs, the West Coolum section of Noosa National Park was scheduled for a planned burn from 24 June to 29 July 2022, to reduce forest fuels and leave a mosaic of burnt and unburnt areas. Houses along that edge sit beside bush that is managed with fire.

Peregian Springs questions

The 2019 fires, and poisoned bushland

Has bushfire come into the suburb?

Yes. In September 2019 the state fire service said the fire flared in Peregian Springs about 5pm, with two kilometres of spotting. In mid-December the suburb came under threat for the second time in a couple of months, and 60 homes were evacuated, though none were lost.

What happens when reserve trees are damaged?

The council keeps watch. In February 2025 it said earlier illegal vegetation damage poisonings at Peregian Springs were still being monitored closely, and that only limited recovery of vegetation had occurred because of the significant damage from the poison.
