Tree work in Cambroon
Lowland rainforest and the vine smothering it
Council describes Tuan Environment Reserve, in the Mary River catchment at Cambroon, as a site that contains a critically endangered lowland rainforest community, with habitat for threatened species such as the koala and the glossy black cockatoo. Neighbouring tree work stays out of a listed community like that, so on a block beside the reserve the rainforest trees on the private side are identified before any cutting starts.
When council surveyed the reserve by drone, it found a serious Madeira vine infestation along a ridgeline, almost one acre of it, where the vine carpeted the understorey and smothered the canopy of mature brush box trees. The vine adds weight and wind load to whatever it climbs, and its tubers sprout wherever they drop, so a vine-covered tree is checked for weakness before it is climbed or felled, and the vine is bagged rather than chipped into mulch.

How it works
What happens after you get in touch
The council question is answered before the price, and nothing is booked until you have the quote in writing and have said yes to it.

Cambroon questions
Escaped burns, wildfire and two refuges
Has bushfire burnt near homes in Cambroon?
Yes. The parks service's fire history records a wildfire, filed under Maleny National Park, that burnt behind properties on Eastern Mary River Road. That was in 2023, and the fire covered about 63 hectares, so on a block along that stretch, trees and limbs hanging over a house are worth taking off before the fire season.
How did the 2026 fire start?
From an escaped planned burn on private property, the same fire history says, and it was mapped at about 88 hectares. A burn that gets away can start a fire here, so a tree scorched in one is checked for a weakened trunk and roots before anyone works under it.
Are there nature refuges in Cambroon?
Two, on the state's nature refuge mapping: Tuan Environmental Reserve Nature Refuge, about 27.21 hectares, and Rivendell Nature Refuge, 24 hectares. Each has a conservation agreement tied to the land, so native trees inside a refuge come down only where that agreement allows, and work on a neighbouring property keeps its machinery and debris out.
