Tree work in Mons

Forest along the old tramway

Council's heritage trail bushland park at Mons carries the Heritage Tramway Walk along the path of the old Buderim to Palmwoods railway, for two kilometres through sub-tropical forest. Houses beside the park back onto tall trees, and a big forest tree inside a house block comes down piece by piece on a rope rather than in one fall.

In Mons, council's planning scheme overlay shows the Palmwoods to Buderim Tramway Track Foundation and Formwork Remnants as a State Heritage Place. A tree standing on or over them is handled as heritage work, not a routine removal, and felling, dragging logs or grinding a stump beside the remnants must leave them undamaged.

What happens after you get in touch

The council question is answered before the price, and nothing is booked until you have the quote in writing and have said yes to it.

Mons questions

Nine reserves and the old station land

Is there much council bushland in Mons?

Yes. Council's open space data lists nine bushland, natural amenity and nature reserves with Mons as their locality, among them Mons Road Bushland Conservation Reserve, Huet Bushland Park and Milne Park Environment Reserve. A block can easily share a fence line with protected bushland, so drop zones, machinery and debris are planned to stay off reserve land.

Is the old station land a reserve?

It is. Mons Station Nature Reserve is 5.6 hectares of land donated in 2017 to protect nature, with a long boundary on the Buderim to Palmwoods Heritage Walking Track and the historic station site in one corner. Its trees are kept for habitat, so on a block that shares its fence, a boundary tree is confirmed as private before any work starts.
