Tree work in Eerwah Vale
Upland gullies and a rhyolite summit
Queensland Places describes Eerwah Vale as a hilly upland that was settled relatively late, enclosing the headwaters of the North Maroochy River and several of its tributaries. Homes are spread over hills cut by creek gullies, so a tree job here often means working across a slope, a long haul with every load back to the chipper, and a careful look at where a truck can safely stand.
Council's Eumundi history records that the slopes of Mt Eerwah were covered with dense scrub, poor grazing country but rich in timber. Blocks near the mountain can still carry big regrowth and remnant trees on steep ground, and a large grinder is allowed for when one of those stumps has to come out.
Queensland's surface geology maps rhyolite flows of the North Arm Volcanic Group, of Late Triassic age, at the summit of Mount Eerwah. Hard volcanic rock close to the surface gives trees shallow, wide root plates rather than deep anchors.

Eerwah Vale questions
Mount Eerwah's park and the council bushland
Can the park's trees be trimmed from my side of the fence?
No. Mount Eerwah Conservation Park is state protected land, listed under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, so its trees are left alone by the neighbours. Anything cut beside it falls, and is cleaned up, on the owner's land.
Who manages the council reserve in Eerwah Vale?
Council. Its open space register has one reserve for Eerwah Vale, the Gees Road Bushland Conservation Reserve, listed as bushland. Trees inside it are council's responsibility, so a job beside it begins by marking which trees grow on private land.
