Tree removal in Coolum Beach

Tree removal, lopping and stump grinding in Coolum Beach, from the pines on the beachfront to the blocks that back onto the bush.

Tree work in Coolum Beach

Wind off the sea and ground that moves

The storm of 24 November 2025 brought wind gusts of 151km/h to the Coolum area, a match for a category two cyclone, and one resident came home to find a pandanus tree torn from the ground. Storms like that are when big beachfront trees drop limbs or go over.

The boardwalk from the surf club to Point Perry runs past towering Norfolk pines, and the same pines stand in yards all along the beachfront. They are tall, heavy and in the wind off the sea, which is why their deadwood and cones are worth getting out before summer.

In 2022 heavy rain made a saturated layer of ground slip down the hillside at First Bay, and the council's repairs ran into unexpected cobbles, boulders and groundwater. Rock like that under a stump slows a grinder down.

What happens after you get in touch

The council question is answered before the price, and nothing is booked until you have the quote in writing and have said yes to it.

    The council position is checked

Lot size, how close the tree is to the house and the mapping on the block decide whether an application comes first.

Coolum Beach questions

Fire, and trees that were poisoned

Has bushfire reached Coolum Beach before?

It has threatened it. In September 2019 the Peregian Springs bushfire was heading towards Coolum State High School, and people south of the school were urged to think about leaving. Blocks backing onto the bush are worth clearing of low limbs and branches over the roof before the dry months.

Can a tree be poisoned instead of cut down?

Not if it is protected, and the council checks. In 2025 herbicide testing confirmed poisoning of trees at First Bay, Coolum, the council put up a warning sign, and it warned that offenders face heavy penalties. A tree that has to go is quoted, and approved first where approval is needed.
