A ferry crossing for every truck

Noosa Plan 2020 records that access is by a ferry across the Noosa River, and that no bridge is intended. The truck, chipper, stump grinder and trailer for any job here cross on that ferry, and the timber and green waste go back the same way unless they are chipped and left on the block. The quote covers the crossing in both directions.

The same plan rules out further subdivision, and the area is largely dedicated for conservation. House blocks often back onto protected bushland, so the work stays inside the private lot and is kept to what makes the house, its sheds and the drive safe.

The state's parks website describes the ride to the beach here as passing through eucalypt woodlands and wet heathlands. Ground beside wet heath stays soft long after heavy rain, so the truck and stump grinder keep to firm tracks, and timber is carried out to them rather than the machines being driven in.

Noosa North Shore questions

Wildfire at First Cutting, surge on the river tracks

Is bushfire a risk on this side of the river?

It is. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service fire history records a wildfire of about 52.6 hectares at First Cutting at Noosa North Shore, which started in November 2019. Planned burns are lit too, among them one in the bushland south of Beach Road, Noosa North Shore, and before each fire season the trees around a house are kept free of dead timber and of limbs that hang low or reach the roof.

Where can a storm surge reach?

As Tropical Cyclone Alfred approached, Noosa Council named Frying Pan Track, Homeport Track, Noosa River Drive and Wygani Drive among the places a surge could flood. Yards along them can be left in salty, saturated ground, so any tree that starts to lean afterwards is checked at the root plate first.
