Listed forestry sites and a state reserve
The former Beerwah Forest Station and Arboretum is a Local Heritage Place in the council's planning scheme, and its heritage type is recorded as site and buildings and trees. Beerburrum Scientific Area is mapped the same way, with its heritage type recorded as site and trees. In both, the trees are part of the listing rather than ordinary bush.
In June 2023 the state environment department gave notice of the proposed designation of Beerwah Forest Reserve as part of Glasshouse Mountains Conservation Park, about 29 hectares within the locality of Beerwah. Work on any of these places goes through the state or the council, so a job on a neighbouring block starts with where the boundary runs.

Beerwah questions
Fire in the national park and the forestry
Has bushfire come near Beerwah?
Yes, more than once in 2023. In September a fire ripped through about 200 hectares of mostly national park in the Beerwah area, and warnings went out to properties nearby.
Do the forestry areas burn as well?
In October 2023 a fire burned through 380 hectares of hinterland forestry and forced the evacuation of a number of properties. On 28 October another fire escalated rapidly in dry and windy conditions, and that weekend's fires destroyed over 600 hectares of forestry. Both were reported near Roys Road.
